Life among poor families is not an obstacle for someone to be successful. Like Lee Shau Kee who has changed his destiny to become the richest person in the world. The story of Kee has been shared throughout Hong Kong so as to inspire the younger generation.

Lee Shau Kee is the fourth child who according to the belief that Hong Kong is believed to be a rare person who can succeed. Kee was born in Shunde, Guangdong, China has managed to build his business from scratch.

The beginning of Kee’s success was when he met a billionaire named Kwok Tak-Seng. From the meeting, he discussed Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, the largest company in Hong Kong and the largest in Asia. Kee had served as Deputy Chairperson of the Director.

Not only that, his expertise in running a property business in the company of Sun Hung Kai, in 1976 he founded Henderson Land Development Company Limited. The company he built is not only about the property but also hotels and infrastructure. One example is the International Finance Center, The Grand Promenade, and 39 Coduit Road.

In addition, Kee also made major changes by taking ownership of Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas) which included almost 85% of households in Hong Kong.

Kee has a big role in the growth and development of the Hong Kong financial sector over the past 40 years. Many people get benefits directly or indirectly because of their financial actions.

Currently, Kee has a wealth of US $ 27.5 billion. This value places him as the number two richest person in Hong Kong or the 24th position in the world. The man who is now 90 years old has also been a source of funding for the University of Hong Kong for years.
